Case Study: UK Tactical

Actinet: http://www.uktactical.com/

The Customer

Uk Tactical is a small company that retails tactical clothing and life-saving plate carrying vests to private security, and the military. They also specialise in gloves, boots and eyewear, all used by our troops.

The Challenge

It was shown that Uk Tactical was growing very fast. Escalations in requirements from the military, in conjunction with greater demand for 'replica' military equipment meant that orders were coming in thick and fast. With a sudden influx of orders, is Actinic capable of coping?

The problem

A problem lies in the 'single user' nature of Actinic. With distribution warehouses out of earshot, and a large quantity of orders, it was overly complex and time wasting to share the Actinic computer. due to the size of the store, Actinic's Multi-User was far too slow and brought the whole show to a standstill. UK Tactical needed something to integrate into their current infrastructure, as well as keep accessible, regardless of what the Actinic computer was doing. They had a fast wired and wireless network, internally, as well as external VPN access. The owner needed to access order information to help clients, over the Internet, not just in the office.

The Journey

Interact-Studio was approached with this problem, seeing the Actinet software as a possible solution, to at least some of their issues.

The Discovery

UK Tactical was referred by a friend, who had already seen the good that Actinet can bring to a business. In the current market, there are very few solutions for this problem, and Actinet is unique in this respect. Actnic's own Multi-User package has definate functional advantages over Actinet, however, Actinet does not suffer any speed problems over larger shops, and is in some cases, simpler to deploy. UK Tactical had an in depth look at the online demo of Actinet, and due to its low price, simply bought it online. It was chosen due of its simplicity, speed and elegance.

The Solution

Actinet, once installed on the 'host' computer (the same computer Actinic itself is installed on) was instantly available over their network. UK Tactical specified an interest in the order viewer during purchasing, so this plugin was their first port of call. Immidiately, their telephone support and packing staff were able to view information on orders, shipping costs and the contents of orders. they were able to print this information, as well as search it.

The Implementation

Since Actinet mimics Actinic's interface closely, all the right tabs were in all the right places, the packing room staff at UK Tactical (5 of them), required no training. All they needed was a username and password set up. This information was included in the quick start guide and was very simple to set up. the entire setup process took less than 20 minutes.

The Results

UK Tactical's packing department now has access to up to the minute information about downloaded orders. They can start packing sooner and share more information about the stock, thanks to the ability to save journal information over the network. This, in conjunction with the addition of the simple 'Tasks' plugin, means that information about orders is circulated quickly, and problems with orders can be fixed immidiately, rather than waiting for the customer to complain that something is wrong.

UK Tactical has increased squad morale, and sped up its processing of orders. The staff are more responsive on the telephone, becasue they can find order data in a snap. The ability to perform specialist searches on orders means that they can respond quicker to low stock, as well as fulfil back orders.

Actinet has helped UK Tactical, can it help you?
